The lyrics of “I’ll be Home for Christmas” always play in my mind this time of year, especially the second verse: “I’ll be home for Christmas, you can count on me. Please have snow and mistletoe and presents under the tree.”
Last week I had the privilege to do two things that may be a bit unconventional for a college president. I was offered the opportunity to join an established team of volunteers who are committed to prison ministry on a “mission” trip into a local medium-security prison. I also was privileged to get to spend time with several of our undergraduate students who are fully engaged in Christian education studies. In each case it was a humbling experience.
