Southwest Creations Literary Contest Resumes

This spring, the Southwest Creations Literary Contest resumed after a 10-year hiatus. Sponsored by the English honor society Sigma Tau Delta at USW, the contest was open to students at USW, New Mexico Junior College, and Hobbs High School. Members of the honor society will publish the winning entries on a website in the fall.

USW Athletics Claims 2nd Consecutive RRAC Academic Championship in Record-Setting Fashion!

I am pleased to share with everyone that our Mustang Athletic Program has earned our 2nd consecutive Red River Athletic Conference (RRAC) Academic Championship. In so doing, USW athletics posted a conference leading departmental Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.18 for the 2016-17 academic year and featured an RRAC record-setting 137 RRAC scholar athletes (which shattered USW’s previous RRAC record of 115 RRAC scholar athletes that was set by our athletic program the previous year). All told, 13 USW athletic programs earned a team GPA of 3.00 or higher.

Onward and Upward! USW Corporate Sponsorship Program Moves Forward with Community Support

This is the first year that the USW Corporate Sponsorship Program has been offered. Established by the USW Office for Development and External Relations, its purpose is to provide funding to the University for Special Projects and other institutional initiatives. There are multiple sponsorship levels available to businesses interested in participating.  Each sponsorship level provides benefits to the sponsoring business including, but not limited to, multiple opportunities for exposure online, in local media, and at USW events as well as establishing mutually beneficial interactive partnerships.
