USW College of Arts & Sciences Welcomes Dr. Danny Kirkpatrick as Acting Dean

With Dr. Elyn Palmer transitioning to a new position as Dean of the College of Education, I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Danny Kirkpatrick as Acting Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences. Effective immediately, Dr. Kirkpatrick will join with Dr. Palmer and me as a member of the Academic Affairs leadership team and the Dean’s Council to implement new initiatives for the 2019-2020 academic year. Dr. Kirkpatrick’s notable success in grant writing and building external partnerships and academic programs makes him a particularly valuable addition to the College of Arts and Sciences and the University. Last weekend I was privileged to participate in two very different events where the subject of change held center stage. At a Kairos reunion group meeting with inmates at the Lea County Correctional Facility big changes are underway in the LCCF “Church” as the new chaplain initiates his vision for new religious programming. The next day I was blessed to serve as worship leader at the First Presbyterian Church during a service dedicated to the Pentecost. Read More
