USW Introduces Doctor of Ministry Degree

University of the Southwest is pleased to announce the Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) as its newest doctoral program. On June 11, 2021 the university was notified by the Higher Learning Commission that it concurred with the recommendation of a review committee to approve a third doctoral degree at USW. This fall the D.Min. will join the growing list of doctorates offered online at USW.  Last year the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) was added as USW’s second doctoral degree to accompany the Doctor of Business Administration (D.B.A.). The D.Min. will be the first terminal degree program ever offered in the College of Arts and Sciences. It also is the first of its kind in New Mexico and one of the few offered online anywhere in the U.S.

USW Athletics is proud to announce Cassandra ‘Cass’ Smith as Head Coach of Women’s Volleyball. Smith graduated from University of the Southwest in 2017. She was a member of the Volleyball program and Women’s Basketball from 2013-2016. In 2013 she was named to the RRAC Honorable Mention Team. In 2015 she earned 2nd Team All-Conference, Champions of Character honors, as well as All-Conference Academic team. Smith played in 395 sets during her four years at USW.

USW’s 2020-21 school year will be remembered as a year of unusual challenges and innovations. In my lifetime I don’t think I have ever dealt with as much adversity and complexity. This said, it also will be a year that has made me a better person and this institution a stronger university. Below are my recollections.
