Whether you watched the live version of graduation or the recorded version, the 2021 Commencement was simply outstanding!
I have to admit that seeing the May Commencement on my home computer felt very different from enjoying the live and in-person event. Of course, it is understood that nothing conveys the energy and electricity of a milestone achievement for hundreds of graduates and their families and friends like the real thing in real time, except maybe the Commencement addresses by Harlee Garner and Dr. Melissa Mireles.
My recommendation to anyone who has yet to see our culminating event for the 2020-2021 academic year is to set aside 42 minutes and then click on one of the links below:
And while I want to congratulate all our graduates and commend our commencement team for their efforts to put together another successful event, I particularly am grateful for Julio Castillo and Maria Duarte. Although I was unaware of it at the time, our best laid plans for producing this year’s commencement involving an outside vendor did not provide the expected outcome. Fortunately, Julio and Maria came to the rescue to save the day, proving the old adage that fits so many things that we do well at University of the Southwest. If you want something done right, it is best to do it yourself!
At USW we are a community of life-long learners. We figure out what it is we need to know and then determine the best source for relevant information. And whether it is technology or education, we have capable Alumni like Julio and Maria who will rise to the occasion and make sure we meet our goals and mission. It is great that we have added hundreds of new USW graduates to the labor market in 2021 to help bolster servant leadership in a world that could use all the assistance it can get.
It also is a Great time to be a Mustang!
